  • Mississippi Heritage Award.  Johnson was selected as a 2010 recipient of the Governor's Awards for Excellence in the Arts.

 

  • The Mississippi Arts Commission recognized her for her contributions to the arts in Mississippi and beyond.

 

  • Awarded the Hometown Hero Award in West Point, Miss., at the town's sesquicentennial (150-year) celebration.

 

  • Consecutive Best in Show Awards from the Threefoot Art Festival in Meridian, Miss.

 

  • Awarded a School Artist in Residence grant from the VSA Arts of Mississippi to teach pine needle basket weaving.

    • The VSA Arts of Mississippi is a statewide organization with a mission to promote and provide opportunities for people with disabilities.

  • Grant awarded from the Mississippi Arts Commission's Folk Art Apprentice Program to teach corn shuck basket weaving to an apprentice

 

  • Inducted into the West Point Hall of Fame in West Point, Miss.

  • Grant awarded from the Mississippi Arts Commission to create basket weaving in cyberspace. A Fruits of the Earth Basket Studio website was set up and provided   step-by-step basket weaving instructions and a variety of basket exhibits.
